I have spent my career in diagnostics and medtech, working across commercial strategy, market access, and organisational leadership. I have sat in the rooms where plans get made, where teams get built under pressure, and where the distance between scientific promise and commercial reality becomes uncomfortably clear.

That distance is not inevitable. It is a choice — usually made by default, when companies focus on the science they are rightly proud of and treat commercialisation as something to sort out later.

It rarely works. And it costs far more than the price of getting it right early.
